Alyssa Baza | Owner

imageAlyssa is Co-Owner and a CrossFit Level 2 trainer at CrossFit Incredible. She has experience in managing and leading group, individual, and youth fitness programs. From working with the Oakland Raiders youth and community outreach to helping with the American cancer society, she has always been involved with “fitness” in some shape or form.

After trying her first CrossFit class more than six years ago, she was hooked! It was like nothing she’d ever put herself through before. Every movement was a challenge. It became a true test of dedication, patience and mental toughness. Classifying one’s self as “athletic” took on an entirely new meaning. While attending an OPT athletic camp coach James FitzGerald gave her the motto “getting comfortable with being uncomfortable”.

Alyssa has always had an interest in being active, healthy and strong. She came from a gymnastics and competitive cheerleading background. She has an eagerness to compete and to teach. After reading, learning and mentoring she decided to complete the CrossFit Level 1 Certification in March 2011.

Alyssa has competed in dozens of local competitive CrossFit Competitions both as an individual and part of a team. However, her first love remains the desire to learn, teach and improve the lives of others through CrossFit. Throughout the years, the influence and inspiration by those in the CrossFit community have made the difference in her life and with the establishment of CFI, Alyssa’s goal to “pay it forward” can be achieved.

Alyssa also works as a Flight Attendant for Virgin America. Using this opportunity to travel, Alyssa is able to attend other boxes and learn from world-renowned coaches throughout the country.

Tucker John | Owner

Xfit_incredible_178Tucker has been involved in athletics his entire life, ranging from years of wrestling, baseball, and playing football. Growing up a gym rat he is no stranger to a weight room. He has always had a passion for fitness and the process of achieving goals.

After competing in powerlifting, he started working out with mixed modality training with the mindset of staying in shape. It took some convincing but after strategic persuasion by Alyssa, Tucker attended his first CrossFit class. Needless to say, it was a humbling experience. Being strong was one thing, but to combine metabolic conditioning and being able to maintain that strength was a challenge. This love for fitness, training and competitiveness formed the beginning of a strong partnership.

As he learned more about overall fitness, he discovered that it is a lifestyle – a journey. Tucker is determined to help athletes learn from his experience and give them a similar upper-hand over their competition.

Tucker currently works in cardiology as a cardiovascular sonographer at Stanford Hospital. He is passionate about helping and motivating people to be the best they can be. He finds nothing  rewarding than helping others reach their goals, achieve new personal records and successfully overcome obstacles that once appeared unattainable.

John Capra | Head Coach

John started CrossFit in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since. He had the chance to learn from very knowledgeable coaches during his early experience and would religiously watch and review tutorial videos to prepare himself for the movements in the workout that day. It was through this research that John embraced the teachings of Carl Paoli and his focus on form and skill transfer from one movement to another. Form there, John received his certification in CrossFit and began coaching.

From CrossFit, his interest in weightlifting began to grow and he decided to challenge himself more in that sport. Diving headfirst into Olympic lifting, he works five days per week honing his craft. John has competed in multiple meets to test his skills against other lifters in his weight class.

John continues to learn and better himself as a coach. With John’s experience in functional fitness and explosive training, he can program to help you reach your fitness goals. He is always open to answering questions or discussing anything fitness and health related. He teaches our Olympic Weightlifting class, group classes, and is available for personal training. Contact John by phone/email for more information on scheduling and pricing. Liz Spragins | Coach

Liz started doing CrossFit since 2010, after spending more than a decade doing endurance sports–swimming, running, cycling. She was immediately hooked to the goal- and team-oriented aspects of the sport, as well as the chance to constantly learn new things. She started coaching in 2012 after she got her CrossFit Level 1 certification. She particularly loves Olympic weightlifting, and has competed in a number of local Northern California weightlifting meets. She recently earned her CrossFit Level 2 certification, and has attended weightlifting seminars at Catalyst Athletics. When not working on her squats and Olympic lifts, Liz works as a professional nerd. She recently completed her PhD in Iberian and Latin American Cultures at Stanford.

Jesseca Reddell | Coach

Jesseca officially started with CrossFit in 2013 after doing bootcamp-style workouts with a CrossFit instructor before that. Prior to starting CrossFit, she frequented 24hour fitness gyms and never quite felt like she was pushing her fitness potential. With the switch to a more rigorous exercise regimen that was finally allowing her to continue to grow as an athlete, Jesseca went on to receive her CrossFit Level 1 certification. She is also certified in CPR. Jesseca’s favorite part about CrossFit is the confidence she’s gained from learning she can conquer challenging things every day. As a coach, she loves watching people grow in their own confidence as they learn to overcome their fears.

Hillary Tran | Coach

Growing up, Hillary never felt she was great at anything. Music, dance, sports, academics: good at a lot, but never great. As she grew older, the constant chase of mundane accomplishments wore on her self-esteem and self-image. Fitness changed it all.

After seeing the impact she had on people as a bodybuilding coach, she eventually switched from chemical engineering to personal training. She then went on to strength and conditioning with high-level athletes (i.e. football, martial arts). Although she was initially opposed to CrossFit, it wasn’t until a CrossFitter beat her with a strict muscle up in Battle of the Bars 1 (a calisthenics competition) that she realized there was a whole other world of fitness she wanted to master.

Never one to back down from a challenge, Hillary eventually ended up in her first CrossFit Open. The rest is HERstory.

Hillary hopes that her journey from a negative place to a positive place will inspire people to find the strength to transform into who they want to be—realizing their potential in and out of the gym.

Stewie Puryear | Coach

Stewie has been with CrossFit Incredible since the doors opened in 2013. Coincidentally, this was when he became first involved with CrossFit. Prior to joining CrossFit Incredible, he attended 24-hour fitness, engaging in bodybuilding workouts. He chose to move forward with CrossFit because of the sense of community and teamwork. Stewie’s favorite movements are cleans and bar muscle ups, his favorite color is gold, and his favorite movie is Friday. Outside of the gym, he enjoys eating, sleeping, and resting up, so he can kill his next workout.
